Who We Are

Mawasiliano Centre (MaCe) is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to harnessing strategic communication as a catalyst for democracy, good governance, sustainable development, and human dignity as key components of the common good in African contexts.

Guided by the conviction that meaningful, inclusive, and ethical communication is essential to transformative social change, we are dedicated to advancing the common good - the social conditions that enable individuals and communities to flourish as active, informed agents in democratic life.

We view communication not merely as a tool, but as a normative and political force that shapes public values, identities, relationships, and possibilities for collective action.

Grounded in principles of critical and inclusive dialogue, MaCe convenes communities, researchers, civil society, political leaders, policymakers, and citizens to co-create public discourse and communicative practices that serve the public interest.

Our approach is intentionally people-centred, purpose-driven, and participatory - prioritising dialogue, inclusion, truthfulness, fairness, transparency, and respect for human agency.

Recognising that all communication is deeply embedded in specific political, cultural, historical, and temporal contexts, we design contextually sensitive, evidence-informed initiatives to ensure relevance, legitimacy, and lasting impact.
